capitalize on new ventures

Northern Colorado is rapidly becoming known as an innovation hotspot thanks to our highly educated workforce, two major universities, federal laboratories and blossoming clean energy, bioscience and technology industries.  Next to the business concept and strategy, the most important ingredient in launching new businesses is capital.  Entrepreneurs often start their businesses with funds from savings, friends and family or "bootstrap" with consulting or sales revenue.  As a next step they typically turn to private "angel" investors to raise more substantial sums of seed capital.  Angel investors in aggregate contribute roughly the same amount as venture capital firms to new ventures each year.

Angel investors are high net worth individuals who invest in high risk, early stage ventures by reserving a portion of their total investment portfolios to provide emerging companies with seed and startup capital through direct, private investments.  The goal of an angel investor is to achieve higher returns than typical public markets provide.

Most angels are active investors - contributing their time and experience, as well as offer introductions to valuable contacts essential to a company's success because they enjoy the satisfaction of helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses.  To maximize the value added, most angels specialize in industries or technologies they understand, investing only in companies within close geographic proximity.

RMI2 helps connect angel investors with promising entreprenuers.  We partner in the Angel Capital Summit, an annual event held in Denver which brings the best and brightest entrepreneurs in front of investors.  RMI2 is also a sponsor and founding member of NoCo Angels, a local angel investor network for accredited investors.  If you'd like to find out more about angel investing and these events, please look at the links we have listed below.
